2. Plot
The story is set in the fictional sand city of Amity Island, where the summer season is pivotal for its frugality. When a youthful woman, Chrissie Watkins, is killed in the ocean during a late- night syncope, Police Chief Martin Brody suspects a wolf attack. still, Mayor Larry Vaughn downplays the incident, stewing that closing the strands would hurt tourism. The city medical monitor originally reports the death as a voyaging accident under pressure from the mayor.
Soon later, a youthful boy named Alex Kintner is attacked and killed by a massive wolf while swimming during a crowded sand day. His mama places a bounty on the wolf, leading original fishers to hunt it. A large barracuda wolf is captured, but marine biologist Matt Hooper examines the body and determines that it is n't the bone
responsible for the attacks.
Hooper and Brody probe the waters at night and find the remains of another victim, Ben Gardner, inside a wrecked boat, attesting that a much larger wolf is still at large. Brody urges the mayor to close the strands, but Vaughn insists on keeping them open for the Fourth of July weekend.
During the vacation, the wolf reappears and kills a man in front of Brody’s son, who goes into shock. This eventually convinces the mayor to hire Quint, a grizzled wolf huntsman, to kill the beast. Brody, Hooper, and Quint set out on Quint’s boat, the Orca, to track down and destroy the bloodsucker.
3. Characters
Chief Martin Brody( Roy Scheider) The promoter, a former New York City bobby
who moved to Amity Island with his family. Brody has a deep fear of water but is determined to cover the city from the wolf, despite the mayor’s resistance.
Quint( Robert Shaw) A hardened and eccentric wolf huntsman with a woeful history. He survived the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, an event that left him traumatized and deeply resentful of harpies.
Matt Hooper( Richard Dreyfuss) A fat oceanographer and wolf expert who joins Brody and Quint in their quest. He provides scientific perceptivity into the wolf’s geste
and serves as the voice of reason between the two other men.
Mayor Larry Vaughn( Murray Hamilton) The mayor of Amity Island, more concerned with the city’s frugality than public safety. His turndown to close the strands allows the wolf to claim further victims.
Ellen Brody( Lorraine Gary) Brody’s probative woman, who worries about his safety and their children’s well- being.
The Shark( Unnamed) The film’s primary antagonist, a massive great white wolf that relentlessly terrorizes the waters around Amity Island. Though it's an beast acting on instinct, its presence creates a sense of terror throughout the film.
4. Conclusion
The final act of Jaws takes place on the Orca, where the three men battle the wolf. After an original attempt to subdue it with barrels fails, the wolf rams the boat, causing severe damage. Hooper attempts to fit it with bane while in a wolf pen, but the critter destroys the pen, forcing Hooper to flee aquatic.
Quint meets a ghastly fate when the wolf lunges onto the sinking boat and drags him into its jaws, devouring him in a brutal scene. With the Orca fleetly sinking, Brody, now alone, climbs onto the mast and devises a final plan. He shoves a pressurized scuba tank into the wolf’s mouth and, using Quint’s rifle, shoots it from a distance. The pellet ignites the tank, causing the wolf to explode in a spectacular climax.
With the peril eventually over, Brody and Hooper reunite. The two survivors use new docks from barrels and swim back to reinforcement, ending the film on a hopeful yet exhausted note.
